Fixed braces
Traditional metal braces are the most common fixed orthodontic appliances. Ceramic, Metal, or Clear brackets are fixed onto each tooth and an arch wire is threaded through each one for connection. The appliance is tightened slightly every month until the desired results are achieved. Recent developments of self-ligating brackets have made brackets more comfortable, reduced treatment duration and also reduced the overall number of appointments. The fixed brackets are removed after the treatment is over.
Removable braces
Removable appliances come in different shapes and sizes and are popular because of their convenience and versatility. Removable devices include headgear, retainers, and Invisalign trays. We create a customise treatment plan for each case. The time for correction with removable devices varies with the severity of the original malocclusion.
What is the right age for braces?
When it comes to braces there in no specific age to correct the dental malocclusion. However certain conditions involving the developmental aspect can be corrected more easily if diagnosed early during or before the growth phase. Hence its better to have an orthodontic consultation at 6 years of age.
